The Cast is OFF!

Hello! Just wanted to show everyone that we did get the cast off today! YEA! His fractured radius has healed nicely and he has a lot of new bone around the fracture which is great. His ulna is still bent which is common on little guys - so all we need to do is just let it grow straight. The doctors said there should be no problems with it growing straight as an arrow, it will just take a little time. For now we just need to continue to be very careful because it is still weak and would be fairly easy to re-fracture again. So we will do our best at keeping him from doing a lot of rough-housing (wish me luck, you all know him, this will continue to be a challenge.)
You can see in the x-ray where the bone looks a little thick, this is where it has repaired itself nicely. We are so thankful that he is a healthy little two year old and that he was able to heal so quickly (only four and a half weeks with the cast on).
I tried so hard to keep it clean, not wet, and no dirt inside it. When the doctor took it off there was only a few little surprises - little pebbles and just a tiny bit of dirt. I tried to keep him from digging but when that did not work I made him a digging shirt (it covered his arm completely, but it did not help when he got into a dirt throwing contest with WC.)
