New Boots

So today we had a Genny Day. Genny is my maternal grandmother who is living with dimentia and so every now and then we do things that remind us of how she used to be...
She loved buying little boys new cowboy boots. So today we went out and got new boots for everyone. The boys had a good time (in there own way.) CJ ran around the store and was the first to pick a pair. Crazy, crazy as usual - you think by your third boy you would be able to control him a little better, but he is who he is and he is just full of life.
Then there was HJ who has a really hard time getting a pair to fit him because his foot is so skinny (just like Genny's feet), but we were successful and able to find him a pair that worked best. He is so happy to have some new shoes to wear to church instead of wearing the old shoes that don't really fit or his other shoes which are Keens and really aren't church shoes.
Finally there was old WC... today was a hard boot buying day for him. He wanted the perfect skinny toe pair and they just don't make them the way he has it set in his mind. So we went round and round tryin' on different boots - all colors, all styles and all sizes to find the perfect pair. He ended up with the exact same ones that he got for his birthday (which he has already outgrown.) He says "they don't feel the same and there not as comfortable- they don't squish like the other pair." We tried explaining that he would have to break them in and wear them awhile, but he did not really understand because he wanted them to feel that way today. Oh well, a learning lesson, ahh all the pains of growing up.
Thank you Genny for all of the fun memories... and thank you Mom for keeping the memories alive for the boys - they really do enjoy their new boots!!!
