Deep Eddy

We had so much fun today on our "field trip" to Deep Eddy with Maw Maw and Aunt Nanna. Deep Eddy has been a long time favorite of my moms family so we like to keep the tradition of going during the summer. Deep Eddy Pool is a historic, man-made swimming pool in Austin, Texas. It is the oldest swimming pool in Texas. The pool began as a swimming hole in the Colorado River, became a resort in the 1920s, and is today a popular swimming pool operated by the City of Austin. The pool is spring fed so it is pretty cold, but that should be no big deal with the hot weather we have.
WC practiced jumping into the pool and then diving down for his rings. He had a great time, even though his lips started to turn a nice shade of blue. (It started off overcast today.)
CJ worked on blowing bubbles and playing with Maw Maw and Aunt Nanna. He would get cold and shake but he just kept going.




HJ stayed pretty cold. He played for a while, but could not get warm.
After a while we decided to go over to Zilker Park to eat lunch.
The boys had corn dogs and french fries. CJ told Maw Maw that he wanted ice cream for lunch - so that is what he started off with (grandma's are great.)



After the ice cream melted and had to be put down or I would have worn it all - he ate my grilled cheese.
After we ate we went on the Zilker Zephyr Train. It is a nice little train ride that goes around the Zilker Park Area and hike and bike trail. They really enjoyed the train as they always do. CJ sat with his brothers for the first time - no mom to keep him from doing any weird stuff. He really enjoyed the freedom, was good and did not make me nervous (can you believe it?).
After the train ride we went and played on the playground. The fire truck is still there from when I was a little girl and is still one of the favorites. It was a good day, full of fun memories.
