My handsome boys had so much fun.
We had planned for the last month to go to Mawmaw and Pop's house because they have a great neighborhood to go trick-r-treatin'. The boys were all successful in their hunt for candy. They all have a huge bag full - Yea I am so happy-- a sugar high for all three of them to last the rest of the year!!! We will definitely have to pace ourselves on consuming some of this.
HJ was a great Indiana Jones and Rodeo was Bubba Fett and CJ had a hard time deciding between Indiana Jones, Spider Man, and Jango Fett. So the night before Halloween he wore two! First he had to put on the Spider Man costume and then Jango Fett. But tonight it was Spider Man with the Janga Fett helmet- how creative.
After getting on the costumes and playing for a while it was time. The anticipation was brutal! They could hardly wait till it was dark.
Finally, it was dark, really dark. Rodeo loved the waxing crescent moon and thought it was perfect because it made it extra dark and spooky. We walked two streets with Pop while Mawmaw manned the house for the other trick-r-treaters. Two of the houses were so decorated and had things or people that jumped out at you as you walked by which gave a couple of my little people a small fright! What fun!
HJ and Rodeo had a great time! They know how to work it. Their approach went something like this... "(SMILE), Happy Halloween, Trick-r-Treat, (pause and SMILE again), then as the candy is coming closer HJ would pipe in "WOW, I love your decorations, they look really nice!" -- It worked every time. They loaded up!!! Their eyes just glistening over when the nice people put hand fulls into their little bags. Of course, upon departing the nice people's homes they would say "Thank you very much" and then CJ would wrap it up with: "Tant you, Tant you and Happy Howoween!" They figured out the nicer they were the more the people put into their already candy filled bags. It also didn't hurt that they are very handsome, well mannered and somewhat talkative little boys (well when you are handing out candy- they break, anything for candy.)
CJ was done early so Pop, CJ and I walked home; while HJ and Rodeo stayed with dad and hit a few more homes and then came home out of thirst and exhaustion (probably couldn't wait to get those sticky little hands on some of their treats.)
And then...I turn my back for just a second and look what happened...
Of course, I should know (especially with CJ being the third) that the little one will want to dig in right away. Do you even need to ask what one of his favorite things is??? Before I knew it, he had his two little hands clutched very tightly around two yummy flavored lolly pops. He was bound and determined he would be able to fit both in his mouth and get rid of all of his evidence before Mom turned around! Ha!! I am thinking by the way he reacted when I found him that he did not want me to know what he was up to because he told me very clearly to go away!
All in all it was a very fun and successful Halloween - no major melt downs, no falling and we didn't have to throw away very much candy (this was one of their huge concerns) -- they already can't wait until next year!
