Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year, it was definitely not a traditional one, but still it was fun and one we will remember for years to come.
We went over to Aunt Nanna's parents home for our feast. We had my whole side, minus my youngest brother and his girl friend and then her side of the family as well. It was a festive day.
Uncle K fried the bird and then Not the Mamma (Aunt Nanna's mom) cooked a traditional turkey. Then everyone else chipped in for all the sides. We had spinach bomb (a crowd favorite), then corn bread stuffing which was so moist and good, two different types of sweet potatoes, brown rice, homemade cranberry sauce and also the kind out of the can, a really good Cajun dish with shrimp and sausage, greens, green bean casserole, then of course bread and traditional gravy to top it all off (I think that is everything, though I could have left something off because there was food everywhere.) I think I can speak for everyone when I say we were all happy and stuffed.
If you look in the first picture you can see CJ's belly (on the left) and this is where the story begins on why it was not so traditional... While Uncle K was frying the turkey, CJ just could not resist the pool even though it is November.
So little by little the clothes started coming off. Finally there were no clothes left on - that is right he was "neked" and swimming in the freezing pool. And I will say he was having a marvelous time. Everyone was enjoying watching this little critter. He was free as a bird and did not care that he was "neked" (this is how he says naked).
We got him dressed to come and eat, but immediately after we all finished he was right back in that water dunking his head and having a great time. He was having such a good time that it got contagious.
His older brothers started to slowly get closer to the water and started touching it more and more. Finally, Uncle J snuck inside and got his suit on and then ran out the back door and did the biggest cannon ball and got many of us very wet. That was it HJ and Rodeo were thrilled. "Can we please go swimming?" they shouted. I did not mind, but we had no suit... so I said they could wear their underwear. (I thought this might deter HJ because of everyone around, but he did not care.)
Rodeo ran and jumped in immediately and then HJ ran to the deep in, not thinking that it was that cold and jumped in. He yelled so loud the whole neighborhood probably heard him and his eyes were as big as saucers.
They went from sitting in the hot tub to jumping back into the freezing pool water. They had a great time!
Rodeo loved the sensation of hot, cold, hot, cold. We all wondered why he did not inch his way into the hot tub every time after jumping and playing in the cold pool. He always just jumped in and would scream hot, hot. HJ would jump in the cold pool and then inch his way back onto the seat of the hot tub, because he thought it was so hot. After we opened the hot tub, CJ decided he would rather stay in there and so he did not get back into that freezing cold pool.
All in all we had a great day. Had a great time with family and friends, ate some wonderful food, went swimming in November and then we all went our separate ways before the big game. Some of the family was really happy at the end of the day and others of us will wait for next years big game. Congratulations to the Longhorns, see yall next year at Kyle field!
This year HJ and Rodeo lost the bet with Uncle J that they make every year "who will win the Aggies or the Longhorns?" ~ maybe next year guys!

Sounds like a fun day - you won't see people swimming around here, unless it's indoor. I'm curious about a spinach bomb...how do you make it? Dinner sounds delicious, although if that was our dinner, Matt would say, "What's with the rice, and where the heck are the mashed potatoes?" :-) Let's do something fun together while we're in TX for Christmas.
