Valentine's - School Parties

It is always tough getting to all of the boys school parties especially when they are scheduled during the same time. Some how CJ and I were able to get to both. We went to Rodeo's party first since Kindergartners get to have a two hour party and then we went off to HJ's who only had one for about an hour.
Of course they are quite different in comparison. Rodeo's party had about half the mom's from the class in the room, tons of food, chaos, children running here and there on some crazed sugar high. Then they had all of the different arts and crafts that the moms were running the kids through as fast as they could. (At one point it looked like herding cattle through a shoot system.) Crazy, but the kids seemed to be having fun. Rodeo always takes his time and doesn't seem to get bothered by all of the wild, loud and over stimulated classmates around him. He just works at his own pace. Some of the kids could eat the treat before it ever hit the plate and then they wanted more. Wow, there is always so many little bodies going everywhere in those K-classes.

Then CJ and I left to attend HJ's party and it was calm and tranquil by comparison. His class decided on ice cream sundae's which were served by his teacher and two other parents. They all put valentines in each others decorated little baggie and then were able to get in line to create their own sundae's. While HJ and CJ waited I snapped this shot of the two of them reading and trying to located different objects in the eye-spy book. This was a much more tame and less stressful environment .

This year we made the valentines for each of their classes again. I just don't see the point in buying expensive little cards that will be thrown away when the boys can make their own out of nice paper that we already have. I know those will be thrown away too, but at least they get to be creative. The other thing is the store bought version already has the little poem or wish and only so many of any particular kind. This is a problem because it takes so much longer to do them when we have to read each saying and then decide which person it is going to go to because of what it says.
All in all we had fun at their parties and CJ was happy to be along for the ride and the sugar.
